The study and analysis of the meaning and truth of Imamate and divine authority from the viewpoint of the Quran, the Islamic traditions, and the Shiite scholars is of great importance in knowing the Shiite religious school. The present article has dealt with this in the light of the Hadith of Qadir, and has investigated the literal meaning of the word mowla in the Quran to explain and analyze, by adducing the related Quranic verses and traditions, the true meaning of divine authority as well as the possibility of conferring that authority to God’s selected servants. It also has adduced Shiite Imams’ words report word mowla implies the ‘obligation to obey’. Finally, it presents and reviews the views of ten Shiite scholars in this regard.
