The only factors hindering the diffusion of Shiism in Tabriz were the Mongol invasions and their domination over the government and the city.
The inhabitants of Qazvin were always famous as Sunnites. The situation remained so until the end of the Safawid period, and there were persons who were dismissed or killed on this charge.
From the very beginning of the Safawid period, Isfahan was famous for Shiism. For this reason, its inhabitants had great roles in Safawid government. And Isfahan turned into one of the bases of the Shiite jurisprudence.
