Khwaja Nasiruddin Tusi, one of the greatest theoreticians of the Shiite morality, has established three strong bases for morality, which show the fundamentals of Islamic ethics. Following Aristotle and Ibn Meskawayh in using reason and argument, Khwaja Nasir, in his book entitled Akhlaq-e Naseri, has established the philosophical basis of his theory. In his book entitled Akhlaq-e Muhtashami, he has established the legal basis of his theory by citing the Quranic verses and traditions. And in Awsaf al-Ashraf, he has established the mystical basis of his theory, reaching at a theory based on ethics integrated with mysticism, showing the perfect levels of ethics. This theorizing shows that one of the aspects of Khwaja Nasir’s personality is the mystical aspect, and he has considered the perfect level of morality to be mysticism, regarding the Shiite mystical ethics to be the most perfect manifestation of Islamic ethics, which makes use of soul purification and the Quranic teachings as well as the Imams’ teachings as a way to acquire the divine morality.
