Locks are among the things that - influenced by Islamic beliefs, especially the Shiite denomination - have found doctrinal functions in the Iranian culture. The present study was done through a descriptive-analytical method, aiming at identifying the effect of ideology and religion on the material function of the locks in Qajar period. Here, we have attempted to study the status and the function of the locks in people’s life in Qajar period to deal with the way religion affects the formal structure and the doctrinal function of the locks. The result of the study shows the direct effect of Shiism and Islamic beliefs on the material culture of Qajar period as well as the direct effect of popular beliefs on the way the locks were designed and used in that period.   اشیاء که در زندگی عادی مردم، مبتنی بر نوعی عقلانیت ابزاری هستند، گاه در زندگی روزمره، از جایگاه و کارکرد معمول خود فراتر رفته، کاربرد و جایگاه فرهنگی و مرتبط با جهان ماوراء پیدا می­کنند. قفل­ها از جملة اشیایی هستند که در فرهنگ ایرانی، با تأثیر از فرهنگ و اعتقادات اسلامی و به ویژه مذهب تشیع کارکرد اعتقادی یافته­اند. در این تحقیق که با هدف شناخت تأثیر ایدئولوژی و مذهب بر فرهنگ مادی دورة قاجار و به شیوة توصیفی ـ تحلیلی انجام پذیرفته، تلاش گردیده است تا با مطالعة جایگاه و کارکرد قفل­ها در زندگی مردم دورة قاجار، به موضوع چگونگی تأثیرگذاری مذهب بر ساختار ظاهری و کارکرد اعتقادی قفل­های این دوره پرداخته شود. نتیجة این بررسی، ضمن این ­که نشان از تأثیر مستقیم مذهب تشیع و اعتقادات اسلامی بر فرهنگ مادی دورة قاجار دارد، تأثیر مستقیم باورهای عامیانه در شیوة کاربرد و طراحی قفل­های این دوره را نیز نشان می‌دهد.   https://www.shiitestudies.com/article_43495_c6a26fedc5f44d3e5dc218873d6ef84d.pdf
