Some Gilanian governors intrigued and plotted against him and he was urged to immigrate to Deccan and very soon he entered Bahmani court. Showing his genius in military and political matters, he grasped their attention and earned the position of ministry. Mahmud Gawan did worthy services during his ministry position. His measures during the period of Bahmani kings were successful and efficient in cultural and political developments; in a manner that he changed his period to one of the most brilliant periods of Muslim rulers in Deccan. His military policies caused the frontiers of the Bahmani kingdom to be stabilized and thus his actions not only saved the Bahmani government from an unexpected decline but also caused the establishment of security and economic improvement in this period. He also developed Islamic culture and civilization by supporting Shi'ism and advocating the Persian language. He influenced his military commanders religiously as well as paved the way for announcing Shi'ism as the official religion in Deccan. محمود گاوان، وزیر برجستة ملوک بهمنی، از خانوادة اشرافی گیلان بود. پس از توطئه و دسیسه‌چینی برخی امرای گیلان علیه او، به دکن مهاجرت کرد و پس از مدت کوتاهی به دربار بهمنیان راه یافت. او با نشان دادن نبوغ نظامی و سیاسی خویش، مورد توجه آنان قرار گرفت و پس از مدتی منصب وزارت را از سوی آنان دریافت کرد. محمود گاوان در دورة وزارت خویش، خدمات شایسته‌ای انجام داد. اقدامات وی در تحوّلات سیاسی و فرهنگی دورة ملوک بهمنی تأثیرگذار بود، به‌گونه‌ای که این دوره را به یکی از درخشان‌ترین دوران حاکمان مسلمان در دکن تبدیل نمود. سیاست‌های نظامی و لشکری وی منجر به تثبیت مرزهای قلمرو ملوک بهمنی گردید. این امر نه تنها حکومت بهمنیان را از انحطاط زودرس نجات بخشید، بلکه منجر به برقراری امنیت و رشد اقتصادی در این دوره گردید. محمود گاوان در شرایط مساعد و مناسب سیاسی، به توسعة فرهنگ و تمدن اسلامی پرداخت. اقدامات فرهنگی وی در جهت تقویت زبان فارسی و تشیّع بود. وی از لحاظ اعتقادی نیز بر فرماندهان نظامی خویش تأثیر گذاشت و زمینه را برای اعلام تشیّع به عنوان مذهب رسمی در دکن فراهم نمود. https://www.shiitestudies.com/article_242608_efe31300e84c4fa7aecaf0f3130ade29.pdf
