However, with his exposition to Imam Ali’s <em>Nahj al-Balāgha</em> – with its historical, analytical, and theological approach – he gained a status among Muslim thinkers, especially the Shiites; this is true to the extent that any study on the history of early Islam, especially what is related to the political happenings after the Prophet, would be imperfect without considering the information provided by Ibn Abil-Hadīd. Thus, a large number of writers, in the course of history, have written on him and his exposition on <em>Nahj al-Balāgha. </em>Since any man is influenced by peripheral factors in his thought and views, Ibn Abil-Hadīd was no exception and was influenced by various factors – family, political, social, economic, as well as doctrinal and cultural. In the present article, therefore, his life and thoughts have been studied in brief so that we may present a better knowledge on his personality and his motivations in composing an exposition on <em>Nahj al-Balāgha. </em>To do so, it is necessary to have a look at his thinking backgrounds. ابن ابی‏‌الحدید معتزلی یکی از شخصیت‏‌های برجستة اسلامی قرن ششم و هفتم هجری و از رهبران فکری اندیشة اعتزال در دوره‏‌های متأخّر به شمار می‏‌رود؛ اما با شرح کتاب <strong>نهج‏‌البلاغه</strong> امام علی† با رویکردی تاریخی، تحلیلی و کلامی، جایگاهی در میان اهل اندیشه، به ویژه شیعیان، یافته است، تا بدان‏‌جا که مطالعة تاریخ صدر اسلام، به‏‌ویژه آنچه به جریان‏‌های سیاسی پس از رسول خداˆ مرتبط می‏‌شود، بدون نظر به داده‏‌های وی ناقص می‏‌نماید. بدین روی، عدة زیادی از نویسندگان در گذر تاریخ، دربارة وی و <strong>شرح نهج‏‌البلاغه</strong> او قلم زده و آثاری پدید آورده‏‌اند. از آن‏‌رو که هر انسانی در اندیشه‏‌ورزی و نوع نگاه خویش، از عوامل پیرامونی تأثیر می‏‌پذیرد، ابن ابی‏‌الحدید نیز ازاین قاعده بیرون نمانده و تحت تأثیر مسائل گوناگونی قرار داشته است؛ عوامل خانوادگی، سیاسی، اجتماعی، اقتصادی و نیز اعتقادی و فرهنگی. از این‏‌رو، در این نوشتار، به اختصار زیست‏‌نامه و اندیشه‏‌های او بررسی شده تا شناخت بهتری از شخصیت و انگیزه‏‌های او در ورود به <strong>شرح نهج‏‌البلاغه</strong> ارائه گردد. برای دست‏‌یابی به این هدف، نگاهی به بسترهای اندیشگی او ضروری می‏‌نماید. https://www.shiitestudies.com/article_242537_3d9f2cab41b7a4449039b8293f9ea93c.pdf
