The writers attempt to answer the following questions: “What factors have been effective in the initial formation as well as the expansion of Twelver Sunnism in ninth century AH?” and “What were the mutual effects of Twelver Sunnism and Shi’ism?” The findings of this study, conducted in a descriptive-analytical method, suggest that the fall of Abbasid caliphate as the most powerful Sunni religious institute caused other religious groups, especially the Shi’a groups, to find an opportunity to be active in the political atmosphere of that era and gradually add their followers. Besides, the diffusion of Sufi movements in Iran due to religious tolerance of the Teymurids created a new thought that attempted to pay special attention to Shi’a Imams and a peaceful coexistence between Sunnism and Shi’ism in Iran, while being committed to the Sunni principles. This new thought is known as Twelver Sunnism. Here, Sufism became the vehicle for a trend whose result was a religious transition in Iran from mere Sunnism to Shi’ism in the period between the seventh and ninth centuries. هدف از پژوهش حاضر بررسی عوامل موثر بر شکل‌گیری تسنن دوازده امامی در قرن نهم هجری و تاثیرات متقابل آن در برابر تشیع می‌باشد. تلاش نگارندگان بر آن است تا به این پرسش جواب داده شود که چه عواملی در شکل-گیری اولیه و توسعه تسنن دوازده امامی در این قرن موثر بوده است؟ و تسنن دوازده امامی و تشیع چه تاثیرات متقابلی بر یکدیگر داشته‌اند؟ یافته‌های این پژوهش که به صورت توصیفی- تحلیلی صورت‌گرفته، حاکی از این است که برچیده‌شدن حلافت عباسی به عنوان قدرتمندترین نهاد دینی اهل تسنن، سبب شد تاسایر گروه‌های مذهبی بویژه شیعیان مجال فعالیت در فضای خاص سیاسی آن دوران را یافته و به تدریج بر تعداد پیروانشان افزوده‌شود. در کنار این امر فراگیر‌شدن نهضت‌‌های صوفی درایران با توجه به تسامح مذهبی تیموریان، نوعی خاص از تفکر جدید را وجود آورد که سعی داشت تا ضمن پایبندی به اصول مذهب تسنن، توجه ویژه‌ای به امامان شیعه (ع) داشته و روند متعادلی در همزیستی تسنن و تشیع در ایران بوجود‌آورد که تحت عنوان تسنن دوازده امامی شناخته می‌شود. در این بین تصوف به عنوان حلقه واسط جریانی شد که حاصل آن گذر مذهبی ایران از تسنن محض به تشیع در حدفاصل قرون هفتم تا نهم هجری بود. https://www.shiitestudies.com/article_239884_810518f7597275ece66e8773243f6ced.pdf
